Real Talk Magazine is celebrating the beauty and power of manhood.  The men on our list not only physically appealing but also possess an inner-energy that makes them men of outstanding accomplishment that has touched the lives of millions around the world.  A few of the men have made their physical ascension but their dynamic Spirits remains with us.

Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz) rose from a world street crime to become minister with the Nation of Islam.  From there went on to become a human rights activist and global leader.  Before he made his ascension he started the Organization off Afro-American (OOAU). Time Magazine cited the Autobiography of Malcolm X as one of the most important books of the 20th century.

Bob Marley is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, musician, and Rastafarian.  His music is noted for speaking truth to power and giving voice to the poor and oppressed people throughout the world.  Marley’s message of empowerment continues with the Bob Marley Foundation whose mission is to eliminate poverty for developing nations, particularly Jamaica and Africa.

Tupac Amaru Shakur has sold over 75 million records making him one of the best-selling artists ever.  He was also a poet, avid reader, gifted actor and a committed social activist.  In honor of Tupac’s legacy, the TupacShakur Foundation (TASF) Amaru was established to provide “training and support for student who aspire to enhance their creative talents.”

Muhammad Ali is an Olympic gold medalist, 3-time World Heavyweight Champion who Sports Illustrated named “Sportsman of the Century.”  Since retiring from boxing Ali has been actively involved in humanitarian around the world.  In his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky stands the Muhammad Ali Center which focuses on “peace, social responsibility, respect and personal growth.”

Dr. Benjamin S. Carson is a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon and the author of three best-selling books – Gifted Hands, The Big Picture and Think Big.  Carson is best known for performing the first successful surgical separation of twins joined at the tops of their heads.  Dr. Carson established Carson Scholars Fund whose aims is “to impact the nation is a positive way by cultivating future leaders who are not only intellectually talented but socially conscious.”

Rep. Melvin “Mel” L. Watt is a U.S. representative who is “one of only two African-Americans elected to Congress from North Carolina is the 20th century.”  Rep. Watt is a Phi Betta Kappa and Yale University Law School graduate is the former chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus and now serves on the House Financial Services Committee and House Judiciary Committee.

Dr. Terrence Roberts is one of the original Little Rock Nine who integrated Little Rock Central High School.  Dr. Roberts holds a Ph.D in psychology and runs a private practice and is the CEO of a management consulting firm.  He is also a civil rights activists, diversity consultant, frequent keynote speaker, and author.  He has penned two books – Lessons from Little Rock and Simple, Not Easy:  Reflections on Community, Social Responsibility, and Tolerance.

George C. Fraser is a CEO, author and speaker who advocates Black economic empowerment via networking.  As the Chairman and CEO of FraserNet, Inc. he “brings together diverse human resources to increase opportunities for people of African descent.  He’s the author of Success Runs in Our Race:  The Complete Guide to Effective Networking in the African-American Community.  Upscale Magazine named him one of the “Top 50 Power Brokers in Black America.”

Jimmy Jean-Louis is a Haitian born actor and model who has a starring role on the hit TV series Heroes.  He is the founder of Hollywood Unites for Haiti (HUFH.org).  The mission of the organization is to “promote  sports and cultural activities for underprivileged youth in Haiti.”  since the recent earthquake in Haiti Jean-Louis has flown to Haiti and personally delivered supplies and aided in the search and rescue efforts.

Michael Jackson…what can we say about this extraordinary man who hasn’t already been said.  Not only is Michael the Greatest Entertainer of all time but he also one of the Greatest Humanitarians.  He was and is an Angel.  Michael was God’s gift to the human family.  Michael LOVED the world, and in return, we LOVE you more Michael.
